the price of a Violin is a result of form. Not form as a result of price.

A Violin never attains its true tone, until it is a century or two old. The timber takes that long to age. Therefore, when a violin is a couple of hundred years old, and attains a really mellow tone, it automatically becomes very valuable. Just like any other heirloom. Except this is one heirloom that can be used. In fact begs to be used.

If you are a class musician, you need an instrument capable of doimg what you require of it. The difference in tone, is like that between a good accoustic guitar, and an electronic one. However, like beauty being in the eye of the beholder, tone is in the ear of the listener.

That said. Women are like pianos. If they are not upright, they are grand.
