Subject: Adjusting my Vectrex Display - Please Help!

My screen is not centered. I know I have to open the case AND I should discharge the tube before doing anything else. Most people say to center the image by turning a particular pot, whereas the service manual says to use the two centering maganets on the rear of the yoke for that.

First of all, if I use the test pattern on the test cart (multicart) I have, I think that the Vectrex needs to be on for that. With the talk about discharging the screen and high voltage, is it safe to work with the Vectrex plugged in AND powered on??? Which adjustment should I make to center my screen better? How careful need I be in there?

Any help is appreciated!
