Apparently Star Trek fans hate Star Wars (and vice versa), Anime fans hate the lot (need I continue ?)
Why the hate ? Aren't we all lovers of the imagination, which, for me at least, is SW, ST, Anime, LOTR, you name it. ST preaches IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination), and that is what FACTS is all about, getting together, seeing stuff you love and other stuff you haven't seen before. You don't have to love it all, but Science Fiction (for lack of a better common word) teaches us to be open for all kinds of things, to be tolerant. Now we see suggestions that FACTS should have an Anime Corner, a SW corner, all separate. Should we also erect a high wall around these sections ? Didn't work in Berlin, doesn't work in Belfast, so why here ? Jeezes, let's give each other a break, OK ? Let's keep segregation and ghettos in politics, where dirty words are at their place. Call me a big softie, but I love all aspects of SF, Fantasy, Comics, Anime,... Throw your blinders off and see that the world is more than Tatooine, The Enterprise and Son Goku. And when it comes down to it, hate to break it to you guys, but it's only make-believe. If we can't get along in make-believe land, what are we going to do in the real world ?
By the way, most SW dealers hate each other, Anime dealers hate each other too, etc. The closer they get, the more they'll fight. Soon everybody will walk through FACTS looking fucking pissed off. Let's not start a war.
