In reply to: Laurie 's message, "Derby Rules" on 21:31:40 10/17/02 Thu

I suggest a few minor changes to the rules:
doors, hood, and trunk must be welded, chained, wired, or bolted closed. If bolted a maximum of (4) 36" long sticks of 3/4" threaded rod may be used. 4" round or square plates, 1/4" thick, may be used as washers for the bolts, chain, or wire to prevent tear-out.

Body bolts can be replaced by 3/4" bolts.

I also recommend some more details on the fuel tank and its mounting: Only fuel cell or marine type fuel tanks allowed. They must either be mounted to frontmost portion of trunk or in rear seat position.

I would also recommend a maximum height to top of the front and rear bumpers, for example 27" front and 29" back. This way everyone can basically use air shocks or other legal means to get up to the maximum height, thus providing a better equalized field.
