Subject: Memories of a little child


I slept like a log Grandma
she smiled and laughed
her Irish eyes made me feel all warm
for last night I awoke and images were all around me
but I was safe with Teddi
he was so brave
I remember the thunder last week
Teddi just smiled and everything was alright

the world was such a big mysterious place
and I had lots of toys to build my city
a big red fire engine that had a real siren
a plane that had lights under the wings and taxied
a clockwork train that was always on time
and the books ..my favorite was the faraway tree
up in the back yard we had a very large pine tree
and I would climb it to beyond the cloud land

we would go on picnics every Christmas with dad's work
i would run in the 100 yard dash and proudly came first a few times
then all excited we met Santa Claus he would smile and give me a mysterious box
I would retreat to secretly open my present and wow a new cowboy suit
life was simple and so carefree exploring tadpoles and catching yabbies
I would go for walks in the forest nearby looking for the witches cottage
I never did find it ..maybe one day..if i go back...oh well
now these memories have faded
but they are my true gold and still my most precious possessions
