Considering he is only having probs with one site, I doubt a defrag will have any bearing whatsoever on this problem. (That's not to say defragging isn't a good thing, just that I doubt it has anything to do with this problem)

Isn't southlands and fourlands hosted on the same server? That is really wierd that you are lagging on one and not the other. Is the code different or the same for southlands/fourlands? I know I have had a case on another mud where I got the initial screen but nothing after that, and no reason at all for it...I just don't play that mud.

Drayab, what OS and SP are you running, what mud client, and where are you using your ethernet at? If you're running it at work or school, chances are they are running something that is causing it. Maybe they are running something like Packeteer or some other packet shaping solution that can give the port for fourlands some minute amount of bandwidth...

If it was a once off thing, or even if you just tried for a short period of time at the same time of day, try and vary that, as you may have coincided with some kind of system maintenance function that put a high load on the server?
