well, some ppl just can't read and write (IC of course)... and besides, there is a lack of book makers and books in general in the game right now... it seems that finding a book in the game is one of the most difficult things... maybe there should be a book shop somewhere?!? maybe someone in the game would like to start a library, or something of that matter... there are those that would like to write things down... but probrably not quite enough people... personally, my character would like to be able to keep a log... he's been around QUITE some time, and his memory of certain events is starting to lose its grip on him...
