The problem is not that you get little coin for things that the merchant has lots of in stock. It's been like that for a very long time and I find it very realistic.

The problem I'm talking about is that for some items (or types of items) you get only (and always) ONE coin for the item you sell regardless of the value of the item. For example:

I sell a fancy jewelry-piece to a merchant who does not have the item I'm selling in stock. He gives me one gracchi then he has the item in question for sale at 100 coins. I've experienced the same things with tools (where the merchant may sell if for hundreds of coins, meaning hundreds of times more than I got for selling it). This is a relatively new problem, first time I encountered this was just a few days ago.

As to bartering, most likely one part names a price and the other says another price and from that you start haggling. Right now (using the sell command) you have actually no idea what you sell the item for. It's gambling, that's why I'm so disturbed at getting only ONE coin for valuable things like tools and jewelry.

Using the barter skill in this case won't help me if I don't have the skill, as the merchant won't buy the item you have for sale for more than the 'sell' price if you are not well versed in the skill. And I doubt you'd get much better price by bartering if the merchants thinks the item is worth one coin.

For all those (major part of the players) who cannot use the bartering skill to their advantage I think there should be an option to know what the merchant would pay (lowest price) when you use the sell command. Otherwise I think the sell command should be removed so that people will be forced to rely on bartering and perhaps introduce the skill to more classes or make it easier to learn.

Good to hear that you'll look onto the shoppies. I have reason to believe that there still is problems in Stonehaven especially, several shops dealing with the wrong wares there.
