Hi Tim and everyone,
Ok, I know it's been a lot of years since I lived there, but why can't I remember Indian Brook Reservoir? Can you tell me approximately where it is?

Funny story: I was flying to BTV a couple of summers ago and sat next to a young woman who, it turned out, was an EJHS (or EJEC or whatever) graduate from the early '90s. She and I compared notes; since I was class of '75, some of the same teachers were still there when she was in school, so that was funny to talk about. Then she asked me, "Did you used to hang out at the Reservoir?"

(Huh?)

I honestly didn't know what she was talking about. She told me that they used to go there on Senior Skip Day. Another duh...I don't remember having Senior Skip Day!

I don't think it's that my memory is all that foggy, either. Did we used to go to the Reservoir and I just didn't know it?! Anyone care to enlighten me? Thanks!

Brina, I believe it was the class of "76" that started using the reservoir for parties. I was in the class of "77" and we also used the reservoir for skip days etc. My brother's class of "78" also had parties there, and apparently the tradition continued for years to come.....go "76'ers" The reservoir is located off of Old Stage Rd. Roger Prescott (class of "76") along with Rick Sharp spear-headed a group to save the reservoir from development. The town had sold it to a developer, who had big plans to build luxury homes around the reservoir. Luckily they ran into some problems with that plan, the main one being ledge, too expensive to blast. So they sold it back to the town for a profit. Now it's a family-friendly place, which it really wasn't back in the 70's......too many big parties, skinny-dipping, drug-use, drunkeness,....too much fun for regular folks.

Thanks, Joe, for the explanation. I remember going to a place we called "the Gorge" for some similar partying, but that place scared me! The guys would jump off rocks down into the water and freak us out. Wonder where that was! You see, I didn't drive back then and was a passenger, so I really didn't get a good sense of all the places we visited, and many of those days were rather idyllically foggy, if you catch my drift.

The Reservoir sounds like a pretty place! The woman I met on the plane did tell me that it required a pass to get in these days, so it's making sense now.
