So folks, I've gotten enough positive feedback on holding a multi-year event for Essex alumni that I'd like to start brainstorming on how to go about getting it going.

I'd like to propose having an annual alumni event, somewhere in Essex preferably, that could be multi-generational during the daytime and include family friendly activities (ballgames, swimming etc.) and then for the evening, a socializing event that could include music, food and dancing.

We could mix all years for the daytime events and then narrow down the years for the evening activities. As the 5 year events come around, those respective years could be the organizers.

If anyone out there has heard of how other towns do this, please let us know here at this forum.

Some schools do this annually to coincide with high school sporting events and combine celebrations around a townwide homecoming parade. The whole weekend then becomes the time that reunions are planned and grouped together in years for Friday - Sunday.

We need ideas on: Time of year, locations, activities, how to group years, how to organize and plan....

Hey Tim, Those are all good questions. I'll see if I can find out what they do around here for multi-year gatherings. It might be easiest for most people if it was held in the summer, when more of us are free to travel and bring the kids. I want to help in some way(s) so will keep in touch here.

I graduated in the class of 1974 and am interested in attending the next Multi Year Alumni Event or the next class of 1974 alumni event.

We may be moving back to Essex Junction this summer or early fall. Does any one know of a good deal on a new home for sale in town? We are interested in a 3 bedroom, new condition $250-300,000 for my husband, my son, and me.

My maiden name is Cathy Hogel and we currently live in Kennebunk, Maine.

Thank you very much.

Hi Cathy,

Welcome to the Essex alumni website. It may not have a whole lot of activity now, but that's just because people are shy. We have more lookers than posters right now, but this will change as people like you break the ice here...

I think it is an excellent time to purchase property in Vermont. there's enough uncertainty in the market right now that prices have begun levelling off. It was a sellers market, but has switched recently to a buyers market, especially in the price range your looking at. There may be less flexibility in the 'new' market, but if you are looking for a second or third owner home, I believe you will have a lot to choose from.

Oh, by the way, if you find a place before August 12th and want to break it in with a party, I heard that we're looking for a place near Essex Junction to host our Already scheduled (August 12th) alumni get-together sponsored by the class of 1976. If you get a place with ample parking, you might consider hosting it? You could invite the neighbors and make instant friends by having an all expense paid catered event at your new home! think about it! (of course you'd want to be well insured).

visit this site often and tell your friends and classmates!
