I was reading up a little more on the area that I'm interested in running my detector over, and it says a little about how they used cyanide leeching pits in order to extract the gold from the ore. This is probably bad news isn't it? It means that the gold was so fine/small, that they had to use cyanide to dissolve it out of the ore. Had the gold been more concentrated or larger in size, they would have used a stamp mill or arrastre no? Would I be wasting my time detecting the tailings?

Derek
