Hi Mitchell,
I don't have much experience with the GM2 but I do have a lot of time in with my GM3 and I hunt in the same general area as you. I have found that both the 10" and 6" D-D coils offered by the folks at Whites are excellent choices and will help your machine deal with tougher soil conditions. Since they both work on the enire Goldmaster family, you can keep them should you decide to upgrade to a newer GM model. I can also recommend the "Nuggetshooter" books by Jim McCulloch. He is one of the premier GM users and his books are especially helpful in getting the most from your Goldmaster.
Good Luck,
-Pat
