Subject: Pediment slopes of Rand Mountain

Last Sat. I had the opportunity to meet Ralph Behrens (retired Mining Chemist) and Bill Mooz (Metallurgist/Mining Engr.) out at Goler Heights. We got to talking and I asked them if they knew where the old Channels ran off Rand and why my Grandfather and Yellow Aster Choose that particular spot to work. I was told that at that spot is where the Ancient Channel comes down from Jo-berg and crosses Goler Rd. and continues on .

OK, so my question is has anyone been successfull in nuggetshooting or drywashing around this spot? I took a couple buckets from the RTE66 and one from RTE 44 at Goler Rd. and ran it thru my Highbanker and got nothing but blacksand, so I'm kinda puzzled about this channel. I realize the bedrock is down around 10-16' but thought for sure I'd find even some trace powder gold.

How bout it Jim S. and Jim Mc. (and Gene wherever you are these days)?
