Steve ol' Buddy you are punching true and hard. Where were you 20 years ago when poor old Ed Spires needed you (grin)

The problem has accelerated recently--- and has been enhanced by the PI-type detectors as the holes now large in diameter and deep. I recently got a smaller concentric coil for my LST and use it in backfulling the dig-holes left by the careless ones.

One unknown guy in particular likes to "brag." He piles up flat rocks beside his holes. I think he is telling the world by the number of rocks he uses in the pile as to the size of the nugget found.

History is repeating itself. Back in 1974, with the development of the non-discriminating GEB White's Five Supreme, the park grounds-keepers started a crusade to eliminate coinshooting.

It was then possible to hit a small metal-screw at 14-inches in a wll manicured park. Several older parks, such as in Redlands, California soon looked the gophers were out in force. However, GEB discrimination was developed and the problem less, but still not good with some areas closed to all sorts of surface disturbance.

The PI- types are now the problem. They have great depth and love iron. It is critical for the manufacturers to develop discrimination.

My next book will not be "follow the drywashers," as everyone is now doing that. But the new wrinkle is to "follow the PI-types." There are occasionally smaller nuggets to be found in these "minature open pits."

Anyone reading this post: Tip, use a small coil on a VLF-type and backfill the holes left by careless detectorists. You might find a reason to smile. I'm finding this true in the local area (to me) and now seeking the holes left by the "newbies" using PI-types with the "big coils." Why is it gold brings out the worst in some?

Not all of the trash they are digging is "trash." 'nuff said

Steve, I would love to detect beside you.
