Otto and Tom and other posts

We are on the right track on getting the machine figured out. I think it is important for us to realize the Gold Strike "threshold" is not a threshold as we have experienced in the past. The plus 4 to zero can be thought of as "threshold," but from what I have learned it is what Fisher refers as a "trigger" point and refers to how much target response is needed to "trigger" the detectors response.

I think using "squelsh" as another term is a good explanation, as this control is actually(?) a dual purpose control. Between 0 to +4 just gives the audio background that us old-timers associate with "threshold." It might be?that the true purpose?? is to learn to use the the O to -99 side with -5 and -10 as suggestions; who knows maybe -15 or even more negative may also be good choices, depending upon other factors such as the sensitivity setting which may be a counterbalance?

According to Roy Evans, my Imlay, Nevada contact he is now using--- prefers--- the Gold Strike with the 6-inch shoe.

Lets all chip in with our combined thoughts regarding how to best this machine; hopefully we can find it effective.
