May 31 is an important day in history.. one that the Lion never fails to commemorate. On that date in 1678, Lady Godiva rode naked through the streets of Coventry, England to protest the high tax rates being imposed on all citizens by the liberal government of that day and time.

It is from this same event that we added the term, "Peeping Tom," to our vocabulary. As a sign of honor and respect for the lady, every one of the common men of Coventry looked away as the lady rode by... all except one sleazy scumbag named "Tom." He claimed that he wanted an even higher tax rate on the richer folks so that he could get a look at the naked bodies of women of honor and principles, character traits he obviously did not possess. He was unmercifully beaten by outraged neighbors (other common men) and blinded for his disgusting act.

I find it significant that the leader of the political party that thinks we don't pay enough taxes already these days is also named "Tom (Daschle)." It seems some things never change. Where are those neighbors of good conscience when we need them again?
