Was your scores wrote down in pencil then changed after the director got them. I never understood how a child can receive all 10's and not place.

[> [> [> Like I said, dont listen to hearsay -- LMMHT, 13:33:56 05/24/03 Sat

If you have a question about the judging criteria for the Little Miss and Mister Hawaiian Tropic State pageant, then please email me or check the website. I dont recall anyone getting points deducted for light foundation. And as far as your adult comments on the fake hair, if the judges can tell it is fake, then points have been deducted.

Self tanner is appropriate if it looks natural. After all Hawaiian Tropic is for safe tanning, how more safe can you get. Light foundations, powder and mascara. No fake eyelashes or fake hair pieces. Light lip stick or lip gloss is appropriate. No eye color or cheek color, eye shadow, blush or eyeliner. This is not a difficult judging criteria. Foundation put on a child to even skin tones is not going to look like too much. I have not had one single contestant counted off for foundation itself. I had judges count off for eye shadow and blush, but I keep up with the ones who have it on, and when I thought the child did not, it was not taken off. The judges are not allowed to deduct the points, they simply write it on the judging sheet. I will deduct the points once I have checked. If four people (the three judges and myself) think eye shadow, eye liner or blush is on a child, then the points will be deducted.

No one at a pageant since we have started this has been deducted points for light foundation. I have had judges deduct points for heavy eye shadow and blush. I have had judges deduct points for hair pieces on a baby that looked like a hair piece.

Points are not deducted for glitzy clothes. I have had both win, since the pageant is not based on just the clothes, attire could both score well glitzy or non if it fits well, color is good for your child. Clothes are never judged alone in any category, you have facial beauty, overall appearance, attire and personality/poise. I will be glad to email ANYONE the judging criteria or even the judging sheets.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

Remember, please do not listen to hearsay, if I did not confirm it, it is probably not true.

Ok you say you deducted points for heavy eye shadow and blush, according to your judging criteria there is no blush or eyecolor allowed, so shouldn't points be deducted for any eyeshadow or blush at all, not just heavy eye shadow and blush.

you would complain no matter what way it is written. It says no eye color, no cheek color and no hair pieces. Seh was explaining how the only children who got points deducted were done because you people make all kinds of stories up! And I was at that pageant in MEMPHIS where the kid who had on a hair piece won supreme, there was only about 14 kids, and when the grand, supremes and all were pulled out she was the last one to take it, even with all points deducted she would have gotten it! 14 kids and 9 supremed. The older kids could not get the 0-3 supreme even if you had deducted all of the points in the world. Tell the whole story.

We were at the pg in Memphis also and the child that got the supreme DID NOT have fake hair. She is a friend of mine and they did not use anything but very light makeup. There were a few that did in the 0-3 but i think one may have gotten deducted but i am not quie sure.

There were lots of supremes at that pageant. The older girls did not have hair pieces on. There were some others that were very questionable. There was also a queen who had lots of make up on and a girl in that same group that was totally natural and she placed first runner up.

Just make sure your child looks natural and you'll be OK. It is a fair, honest system.

ok, so you can wear falls and cascades as long as they look natural? This doesn't sound like a natural pageant to me.

Pam ALWAYS runs a fair pageant. If you don't like the judging criteria, don't go. Only folks with positive attitudes allowed.

It never happened. Everyone should know by now that there are a few women that get on here and bash because their kids can't win. Anyone that has a child that wins gets bashed on here. People make up lies to make themselves feel better about loosing.

You do not need a hair and makeup person. If anything it may hurt your chances of winning. Why pay someone to do your child's makeup when they are only allowed to wear mascara and lip gloss?

My child has competed and won in this system and she went natural. Save your money, go natural and you have a better chance of winning.

where do you get only mascara and lip gloss? quit giving false info, well no one should be listening anyway, it is on the paperwork. think you are just trying to give info to help yourself a little? how old is your child.

Well, my paperworks and the website say light natural foundation, light mascara and light lipstick or lip gloss. I hardly think you need a makeup person for that. But, if you want to put all the makeup on your child go right ahead, because I will be the first one to run and tell the director. A lot of us saw girls at one of their recent pageants in the restroom having blush and eyeshadow put on and believe me if we see this at the state pageant we will tell the director. The rules are very simple just stick to them.

Good luck to all the contestants!!

Are you going to go to everyone's room, especially the people doing H/M to 'police the makeup'? This is getting a little out of hand don't you think. Do you honestly believe that eye makeup is going to make that big of a difference in the scores!
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AT HT!

Well if I understand correctly wearing eye makeup will cost you a point from each of the judges. And, if there are 3 judges losing a point from each, for a total of 3 points, could be a huge difference in who wins. The rules say no eye makeup what is so hard to understand about that. No means no.

I believe that the above poster is right.
Let the judges count off that is their job not some pageant nosey moms'job. Go have fun with your kiddo and let the judges and director take care of the scores and paperwork aspect of the pageant. Make some new friends and relax. After all it is just a pageant and win or lose the world will still turn.
