Subject: The Bush drunk driving leak...

In case you don't know who Tom (the guy who leaked the Bush DUI story to the Maine press) Connolly is, he's a rabid anti-Republican hack lawyer from my home state of Maine. He is widely regarded as being one of the biggest NUTS in the state, having once attempted to run for Governor and finding that even Democrats thought he was crazy!
This is a guy who wears a silly looking fishing cap wherever he goes and has stated on numerous occasions that he HATES Bush and basically any other Republican who's ever run for office.
It wouldn't surprise me if this guy had been sitting on this information for a while, just waiting to unload it at the most opportune time.
I have no love for George Bush, as I've stated on many occasions but this sort of crap is indefensible and only serves to outrage the fairly ignorant few voters who enjoy having the chance to point their fingers and say "see I told you so."
Come on people! Being surprised that Bush got a DUI (actually it's OUI here) is like being surprised that Clinton got his nob polished in office from time to time.
He already said he was a drunk back in the 70s! Did you really expect him to list every stupid thing he's ever done in his life? Drunk driving laws back then were lax compared
to today as well. I'm not saying it was right, but it was far more common and generally viewed as being a minor offense unless someone got killed. That's why it was only a minor misdemeanor and it's penalty just a $150 fine.
Ted Kennedy got smashed beyond reason and drove his car off a bridge, killing an innocent girl in the process and didn't even call his own family about it until the next day.
How long has that guy been in congress?
I don't know if Gore new anything about this or had something to do with it being released to the press, but I do know that he's done far worse and obviously illegal things while already in the second highest office in the land.
Anyone who hasn't decided which of these two to vote for by now (assuming they're not for a third party candidate) would be crazy to let this incident of some 24 years ago sway
them in one direction or the other.
If you weren't for one of these two guys before now, maybe it's time to come to the realization that you never really liked either of them!
