Happy Birthday to Bill Wright and Ethel Pickens! (CCHS 1953)

In honor of their Birthday, I am starting a thread of remembered stories about our old school, practice fields, cafeteria, hallways, restrooms and any others you want to share. I'll start with a band marching practice story (what else?)on the football field behind the school. We were practicing our half-time show at the same time the football team was practicing. I played the clarinet which has a pointed mouthpiece and is dangerous to play even whille sitting. Over the melodious sounds of the marching band, I heard a very loud "thump", foot hitting egg-shaped leather. Then I was hit on the head by the football. Thankfully,I did not swallow the pointed mouthpiece. I looked up to see my unconcerned clarinet buddies, Pickett and Patsy, marching on down the field (you can't break ranks while marching). For the rest of my high school band career, I ducked when I heard the punter kick!
