I DID notice that when he was stroking Amy's hair! And I even mentioned that to my daughter, and I have noticed him doing that (like hiding it) on 'Friends' and anything/everything else he's been in, that's why I thought maybe it was his decision. In that case, I totally get that. It just brings to mind this one local news anchor here in the LA area. She was born with birth defects, and her hands were greatly affected. Early in her career, they made her wear prosthesis (whats the plural for that word?) on her hands to cover it up. Later in her career, she stopped doing that, but the article I read with her, when she spoke of that, it just really stuck with me. The industry is so 'perfect beauty' oriented, that they dont stop to think. Always portraying 'perfectness' is, in some respects, harmful. It causes people to hate the way they look, never being ok with themselves, and if God forbid they (someone/anyone) should have a 'defect' or 'imperfection', we (me and some people like me) feel like we need to hide away, cause we dont fit in.

If society didnt put forth such a strict perception of what constitues beauty, Matthew (if he feels this way in ANY respects) probably wouldnt feel it necessary to hide his beautiful finger.

I know for me, I feel like I need to hide away, and I might not if they (movies/TV/what-have-you) showed people like me... overweight, disabled, and deformed, in a positive light. Or how about at all? I've yet to see someone in a wheelchair on 'Friends', except for when they're at the hospital and it's to take patients in or out of the facility.

Man, my soap box is getting a lot of exercise today! :)
