I read the article that "Seeker" posted with keen interest. Many of the things that you mentioned are also in another book. I quote from that book.

You said:

"In Eden he asked, "Yea, hath God said?" and today he is pursuing the same tactics."

"...but, in these "last days" the assault is made in a more subtle manner and comes from a more unexpected quarter."

2 Ne 11:93 And there are also secret combinations, even as in times of old, according to the combinations of the devil, for he is the foundation of all these things; yea, the foundation of murder, and works of darkness;
2 Ne 11:94 Yea, and he leadeth them by the neck with a flaxen cord, until he bindeth them with his strong cords for ever.

2 Ne 12:24 For behold, at that day shall he rage in the hearts of the children of men, and stir them up to anger against that which is good;
2 Ne 12:25 And others will he pacify, and lull them away into carnal security, that they will say, All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well;
2 Ne 12:26 And thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.
2 Ne 12:27 And behold, others he flattereth away, and telleth them there is no hell; and he saith unto them, I am no devil, for there is none:
2 Ne 12:28 And thus he whispereth in their ears, until he grasps them with his awful chains, from whence there is no deliverance.

You said:

"Many of those who are paid to stand in our pulpits and defend the Truth of God are now the very ones who are engaged in sowing the seeds of unbelief and destroying the faith of those to whom they minister."

2 Ne 12:31 Wo be unto him that crieth, All is well; yea, wo be unto him that hearkeneth unto the precepts of men, and denieth the power of God, and the gift of the Holy Ghost.
2 Ne 12:32 Yea, wo be unto him that saith, We have received, and we need no more.
2 Ne 12:33 And in fine, wo unto all those who tremble, and are angry because of the truth of God.
2 Ne 12:34 For behold, he that is built upon the rock, receiveth it with gladness: and he that is built upon a sandy foundation, trembleth, lest he shall fall.
2 Ne 12:35 Wo be unto him that shall say, We have received the word of God, and we need no more of the word of God, for we have enough.

2 Ne 12:39 Cursed is he that putteth his trust in man, or maketh flesh his arm, or shall hearken unto the precepts of men, save their precepts shall be given by the power of the Holy Ghost.

1 Ne 3:144 And also for the praise of the world do they destroy the saints of God, and bring them down into captivity.

2 Ne 12:19 Wo unto them that turn aside the just for a thing of nought, and revile against that which is good, and say that it is of no worth:

Hel 5:39 And because he speaketh flattering words unto you, and he saith that all is well, then ye will not find fault with him.

Mormon 4:43 Why have ye transfigured the holy word of God, that ye might bring damnation upon your souls?

2 Ne 6:57 O that cunning plan of the evil one!
2 Ne 6:58 O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men!
2 Ne 6:59 When they are learned, they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves;

You also said:

"The contempt with which the Bible is treated demonstrates that human nature is exactly what God's Word represents it to be—fallen and depraved—and is unmistakable evidence that the carnal mind is enmity
against God."

Mos 2:2 And they had viewed themselves in their own carnal state, even less than the dust of the earth.

Mos 2:8 For behold, if the knowledge of the goodness of God at this time, has awakened you to a sense of your nothingness, and your worthless and fallen state;

Mos 8:77 But remember, that he that persists in his own carnal nature, and goes on in the ways of sin and rebellion against God, remaineth in his fallen state, and the devil hath all power over him.
Mos 8:78 Therefore he is as though there was no redemption made; being an enemy to God; and also is the devil an enemy to God.

Alma 13:45 And Aaron did expound unto him the scriptures, from the creation of Adam, laying the fall of man before him, and their carnal state, and also the plan of redemption, which was prepared from the foundation of the world, through Christ, for all whosoever would believe on his name.

2 Ne 6:74 Remember, to be carnally minded, is death, and to be spiritually minded, is life eternal.

Alma 19:75 And now, my son, all men that are in a state of nature, or I would say, in a carnal state, are in the gall of bitterness, and in the bonds of iniquity; they are without God in the world, and they have gone contrary to the nature of God; therefore they are in a state contrary to the nature of happiness.

Mos 1:119 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been, from the fall of Adam, and will be, for ever and ever;

Do you see how these scriptures agree with what the Bible says? Now the next surprise. These scriptures were taken from the Book of Mormon. How about that!

Joanne
