Grant McMurray and Repentance

I think it is strange that I have never seen Grant speak of repentance in any of his sermons or speeches. Instead of the mission of the church being, "To call all people to repentance, so that they will have their sins atoned for through the blood of Jesus Christ", we see this mission statement "We proclaim Jesus Christ and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace". Where is the call for repentance? Where is the acknowledgement that all people sin? Where is the proclamation that Jesus' blood atones for our sins?

When the COC church proclaims Jesus Christ, what are they actually doing? What does that statement mean? It would seem that the church is telling the world that they have heard the name Jesus Christ. Perhaps this is what they are proclaiming. Are they simply name-dropping just to fit in with the other Christian denominations?

I can proclaim Bill Gates or Bill Clinton or H. Ross Perot, without ever meeting them or knowing them at all. I believe that the COC church is doing this. It doesn't know Jesus Christ, yet it promotes a name that it has read, namely the name of Jesus Christ.

Is the church afraid to have the mission statement to long? Why not elaborate what it is proclaiming about Jesus Christ, if anything. I feel that the COC church is more interested in promoting the idea of "community", rather than really proclaiming anything about Jesus Christ.
