Subject: Jesus following Grant...with His Large Dictionary in Tow

I have heard it said, "To the farmers, He talked about farming...to the fisherman He talked about fishing, to the rich and wealthy He talked about money, spacious palaces, harems, etc. Wait a minute! Is that correct?

When it became fashionable for "educated" people to preach from our pulpits,(I'm referring to the early '70s) I found that the preachers talked over my head quite often. There were many times in those days that I would ask my mother what the Elder said; she would say, "I don't know. What DID he say?" And all the time the people sat there with big smiles on their faces. (Stepford children) Trying to show how well they understand what was being said. But see...I know that things are not always as they seem. If we didn't get it...they didn't get it. Educated by association, they call it. Educated wannabes.

I am not against a person having a nice comfortable home, but really...do you have to tell everybody about it? Brag, brag. brag. I used to tell my kids, it's hard to keep up with the Jones...when you are the Jones.

Jesus could have said, "As I sit here in my substandard housing, known also as the "projects" I think about the attack on NY, but, you see, he didn't. The scriptures say:

"And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man hath not where to lay his head." Matthew 8:20

Doesn't sound like Jesus lived very comfy, does it? Which one on you have been born in a manger?

Some of Grant McMurray's words might even stump Jesus. It is common knowledge that even though many of us can read at a college level, MOST things that appear in our news papers are at a 5th-7th grade level.

I have learned about Grant McMurray's lovely home. Learned that he owns a cheap watch, a cheap coat, cheap slacks. and tells funny jokes. (Sherlock Holmes) I have learned that Grant thought of the Indians as savages, or "domesticated Tontos." But...did I learn about Jesus Christ, and how His blood atones for our sins?

The scriptures further say:

Wherefore, because of their blindness, which blindness came by looking beyond the mark, they must needs fall:
For God hath taken away his plainness from them, and delivered unto them many things which they can not understand, because they desired it.
And because they desired it, God hath done it, that they may stumble. Jacob 3:23-25

Thou seest because of the many plain and precious things which have been taken out of the book, which were plain unto the understanding of the children of men, according to the plainness which is in the Lamb of God; 1 Nephi 3:174

For behold, my soul delighteth in plainness unto my people, that they may learn; For behold, my soul delighteth in plainness unto my people, that they may learn; 2 Neph 11:7

But behold, I proceed with mine own prophecy, according to my plainness; in the which I know that no man can err; 2 Nephi 11:11

For my soul delighteth in plainness: for after this manner doth the Lord God work among the children of men.
For the Lord God giveth light unto the understanding: for he speaketh unto men according to their language, unto their understanding. 2 Nephi 13:4-5

...for they will not search knowledge, nor understand great knowledge, when it is given unto them in plainness, even as plain as word can be. 2 Nephi 14:9

The scriptures also say:

And the common people heard him gladly; but the high priest and the elders were offended at him. Mark 12:44

For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. Romans 16:18

...if a prophet come among you, and declareth unto you the word of the Lord, which testifieth of your sins and iniquities, ye are angry with him, and cast him out, and seek all manner of ways to destroy him;
Yea, you will say that he is a false prophet, and that he is a sinner, and of the devil, because he testifieth that your deeds are evil.
But behold, if a man shall come among you, and shall say, Do this, and there is no iniquity; do that, and ye shall not suffer; yea, he will say, Walk after the pride of your own hearts; yea, walk after the pride of your eyes, and do whatsoever your hearts desireth; and if a man shall come among you and say this, ye will receive him, and ye will say that he is a prophet;
Yea, ye will lift him up, and ye will give unto him of your substance; ye will give unto him of your gold, and of your silver, and ye will clothe him with costly apparel;
And because he speaketh flattering words unto you, and he saith that all is well, then ye will not find fault with him. Helaman 5:35-39

Who is Grant's language plain to?

Joanne
