Subject: Comparisons--Do You See It?

I found the website for the Unitarian Univeralism church, and the Community of Christ church to bear an uncanny resemblance in their statements. How does everybody else see it?

The Community of Christ states:

Recognizing that the perception of truth is always qualified by human nature and experience, there is no official church creed that must be accepted by all members.

All people are encouraged to pray and study the scriptures, participate in the life and mission of the church, and examine their own experiences as they grow in understanding and response to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Unitarian Universalism states:

We believe that personal experience, conscience, and reason should be the final authorities in religion. In the end religious authority lies not in a book, person, or institution, but in ourselves. We put religious insights to the test of our hearts and minds.

We will not be bound by a statement of belief. We do not ask anyone to subscribe to a creed. We believe people should be encouraged to think for themselves.

The COC states:

All persons have great worth and should be respected as creations of God with basic human rights.

All men, women, youth and children, are given gifts and abilities to enhance life and to become involved in Christ's mission.

The Unitarian Universalism states:

We affirm the worth of all women and men.

The COC states:

A global community with a worldwide mission that values all cultures and celebrates the rich DIVERSITY of human life.

The Unitarian Universalism states:

We know people differ in their opinions and lifestyles, and we believe these differences generally should be honored.

We know that our relationships with one another, with DIVERSE peoples, races, and nations, should be
governed by justice, equity, and compassion.

I made a couple of other observations too.

I noticed that they make this statement:

"The nature, love, and purpose of God are MOST CLEARLY seen in Jesus Christ our saviour.
That sentence is misleading.

The church as PART of the body of Christ, is how the ministry of Christ continues in the world today. Just
part
?

How often have we heard it said that "Human understanding of life and death, the world and it's mysteries, is never final.

Back in the early 1970s, the RLDS put banners up which said "CELEBRATE your existence."

The Unitarian Universalist church states:

"We CELEBRATE unfolding truths known to teachers, prophets, and sages throughout the ages.

Without JESUS CHRIST, what is there to celebrate?
