Subject: I defy you. I, for one, have never heard of /Wicked/, and I am already 'familiar with/obsessed with/living off of' /The Phantom of the Opera/...

Not that I'm dissing "Wicked" or anything. I've just devoted myself wholly and completely to "Phantom"...

[> [> *stunned* My dear Bored, you must be educated! A filmed version of "Phantom" is supposed to come out in December sometime. I highly recommend it. I also recommend listening to the Original Cast Recording (yay Michael Crawford and his maniacal Phantom-laugh! Ahahahaha!!!!!) and reading the book, as well as becoming otherwise familiar with it. You could also rent the old movies...there's one from the Silent Era - 1925 - with Lon Chaney as The Phantom, and another from the 1940's with Claude Rains. They're old, yes, but I've seen them and they're both very good... -- Void...the Obsessed!, 14:19:09 08/06/04 Fri

Reading the book is particularly intriguing, as it goes through and explains everything...Carlotta's croaking, the source of the 'mysterious voice' in Box 5, how the Phantom stole all the money from the managers, as well as The Phantom's past and more...very interesting stuff. Somewhat dark, of course, but very very fun.

I highly recommend it.

^.~

[> [> [> Sadly my knowledge of Phantom goes to the extent that some man with a mutilated face hangs out in some theater and falls in love with a pretty girl. If I can find the time then I'll read the book but I'm currently trying to get through Wheel of Time. -- BTT, 07:21:48 08/09/04 Mon

[> [> [> [> Mmm...I guess that's the basic idea. Kinda. It's a lot more fun than just that, though...ventriloquism and theft and all sorts of trapdoors and stuff...anyhoo. You're reading Wheel of Time? Good luck. I gave up halfway through "Winter's Heart" because of...well, various reasons that would take too long to explain. Where are you in the series? -- Void, 19:09:56 08/17/04 Tue
