Clara's other best friend Brit[she's cool with Chelle and Murph]came down the street with her boyfriend Shawn[Jay]. Chelle turned around to see who it was.
Chelle: Hey Brit. Gurl it's been a minute since I've seen you.
They hug. Murph is just staring at her as if he's supposed to know her.
Brit: I know gurl. So you finally moved to NY? Oh it's gonna be so much fun now that you're here too.
Clara: What I don't make it enough fun or somethin?
Kay: It ain't that but now it's like we got two crazy chicaz on our hands.
Brit: Shut up Kay. Anywayz, Murph why ain't you said nothin to me?
Chelle:[no attitude] Why he ain't said nothin to us? I mean he just standin there lookin like a bump on a log.
Brit: Oh my bad, Shawn this is Chelle and Murph, Clara's cousins. Chelle, Murph this is my boyfriend, Shawn or Jay.
Jay: Sup?
Chelle: Nothin.
Murph: Chillin'.
Clara: Boy why are you starin at her like that?
Murph: Cuz I think I know her.
Chelle: Murph you should she's Clara's best friend and when we visited up here a long time ago we knew her.
Murph: Oh ok. Hi.
Kay: Is he always like that?
Chelle: Sometimes worse.
Just then three more people came walkin down the street. They looked like they were comin toward Clara's house. Everyone stopped talkin just as soon as they heard the noise of the three people.
Jay: That can only mean one thing.
Murph: Wha?
Kay: Here come the rest of our lil clique. For some reason the three of them make the most noise. Makes no sense.
After about a minute they arrive at the house.
Jiz: Dang everybody over here huh?
Kima: Hey we was wonderin where you guys were. Since you can't call a sista and let her know where you at.
Lami: Really, anywayz who's this?
Chelle: I'm Chelle. And you are?
Lami: I'm Lami, you're Clara's cousin that was comin in from Va today ri?
Chelle: Yeah.
Kima: Okay she told us you were comin today but she ain't know what time. I'm Kima.
Chelle: Hi.
Clara: Oh let me introduce y'all. Kima, Lami, Jiz, these are my cousins Chelle and Murph. Chelle, Murph these are my other friends, Kima, Lami, and Jiz. Jiz is Kay's man, and Lami is my man man. And Kima, well she ain't got no man.[laughing]
Kima: Shut up Clara.
Chelle: Okay this is my brother Murph.
J/L/K: Hi.
Kima: So what ya'll wanna do? Cuz I'm type tired.
Kay: Then why don't we just go in the house and chill?
Everybody: That's coo.
Clara:[whispering] Is it me or is Haze bein quiet? I mean that ain't normal for him. And is he checkin my cousin out?
Lami: No I noticed it too. I think he likes her. You think she'd go out wit him?
Clara: I ono. I'll check.
Lami: Okay.
Clara: Chelle guess what?
Chelle: Wha?
Clara: I think Haze likes you.
Chelle: And!?!
Clara: And I think yall should hook up! Do you like him?
Chelle: Naw you remember what happened.
Clara: Jay`Von is gone now you need to move on.
Chelle: You just don't get it girl. It ain't that easy. [she gets up and leaves the room.]
Clara: Damn!
Kay: What the hell did you do Clara?
Clara: Nothin I just[realizing what she said] OMG!! Murph tell me I didn't bring up...
Murph: Clara you didn't?[looking at Clara's face] You did....Damn I just got her outta that before we came to yo house now she in it again.
Clara: I totally forgot my bad man. I guess I'll go talk to her.
Jay: First do y'all wanna fill us in on what y'all talkin about?
Murph: I don't know if she'd want us to tell Clara.
Clara: True. But I guess it is better they know if we all gone be friends.
Lami: Know what?
Clara: Hush boy he bout to tell you.
Murph: Aiight when we lived in Va Chelle fell for my best friend in the whole world named Jay'Von. She was like 14 or 15 at the time and he was like 16 and he liked her too. So they went together. Then the day after his 18 birthday they had went to a school basketball game that he was playing in and afterwards stopped at a corner store in a bad neighborhood.[he started to get teary-eyed] He went in and got something to drink not knowing that two rival gangs were arguing. One across the street and one infront of the store. The ones across the street left and came back with a drive by shooting.[tears start to run down his face.] Jay'Von was coming out of the store when they had started shooting and a couple of stray bullets hit him. Chelle was in the car and waited for the gun shots to stop and when she did she went around to the front of the store and saw him laying on the ground in a pool of blood. She ran to him and wanted to get him to a hospital but he didn't wanna go, he asked for a kiss and... she kissed him one last time and he went limp in her arms. And she's been in a deep depression ever since.
The girls were all crying and the guys were trying to comfort them but it wasn't helping because the story was just too much.
