And I'm not trying to be a prick, it's an honest question, I ask because of your handle and your use of the language: is english your native language?
Why use "amidst" and "amongst" when "amid" and "among" will do? Also, you tend to light all over the place, rarely finishing a thought or description before leaping to the next. You mustn't be so darned impatient. Slow, down, have fun, take pleasure in the language, I promise, it won't let you down, and you will eventually get to the end.
Two books worth read, bibles actually, "The Elements of Style" by William Strunk and E.B. White, and "The Associated Press Guide To Newswriting" by Rene Cappon. The latter was intended for aspiring journalists, as you gleaned from the title, but is just as inspiring and informative to creative writers.
English was not Rene Cappon's native language, yet he had a deep and abiding love for it. He said, "Writing is the art of the second thought."
