Subject: FORGIVEN

Benny got his pet husky for his 10th birthday, and he was estatic about it, but as time grew
on, Benny got used to the dog, and started to ignore him. He had always wanted to play
catch, and take him for a walk, but all they did in the 5 months was play in the grass, never
doing any of the things Benny wanted. Benny named his dog cammy, thinking of the dog he
had always seen in his mind, he begged and worried his parents to get him a dog, and they
finally did. When cammy first came home, all Benny wanted to do is play with his new friend,
but when his friends came over, he abandoned cammy for them.
Benny always felt guilty about leaving cammy alone, but at this time in his life, he thought his
human friends were more important. Cammy would always have a sad frown on his face,
whining like a rat, then turning away from Benny and his friends. The friends he had weren’t
interested in dogs, all they wanted to do was play football, and baseball, and Benny could
never say no. When he came home after being with his friends all day, he would pet cammy’s
brown and white fur, cammy seemed happy to finally get his attention, but knew it wouldn’t
last long, because tommorrow, Benny would be gone again, and he would be alone.
Benny’s parents didn’t want the dog in the house, so he would always sit him out
at nighttime, cammy would whine sadly, but to no avail. After the first five months were over,
Benny totally ignored his furry friend, joining a little league baseball team, and being gone till
night. By the time he got home, the dog was tied in the backyard, and Benny was too exhausted
to notice him. He would always hear cammy howling at night, but thought nothing of it, maybe
he was just yawning Benny thought, no one was able to see cammy’s lonliness.

One day, cammy’s lease was left untied, and he wandered off into the neighborhood, crawled
to the middle of the road, and sat there. Several cars had just barley missed him, but cammy
didn’t budge, he just sat there, as if he wanted to be hit. Then a UPS truck came down the
road, and couldn’t see cammy laying in the road, it ran over him, and crushed his lower abdomen, exposing his organs slightly on the road. Nobody noticed the dog being hit, and he
never let out any scream, he just sat there and died.
Benny came home at 5:30 that evening, he had just relized how much he had been ignoring
cammy, and vowed to spend all of his time with him. He went to the backyard running, expecting to see cammy glaring at him with those big black eyes, but cammy was nowhere to
be seen. Benny came screaming to his parents that his dog was missing, they all immediately
searched for cammy, he wasn’t in the house, not in the toolshed, he had dissapeared.
Benny ran down the street screaming cammy’s name, but got no response. Then as he reached
the turn of the corner, he saw an apauling site, there was cammy, with some of his guts laying
out of his body. Benny was speechless, he just stood there, tears immediately started poring
down his face, cammy was gone, just when he was about to start spending his time with him,
he was gone. Benny went home crying, and told his parents about it, they comforted him, and
told him they would get another dog, but Benny said he didn’t want another one, and went to
his room for the night.

All night, Benny cried and told cammy how sorry he was for ignoring him, and how he wish he
could stroke his fur. All night he kept saying, “forgive me cammy, please forgive me”. At 4:30
am, Benny heard a loud scratch at his window, he got up to investigate it, but there was nothing
there. Then a ball came flying out of the trees, a baseball, it seemed to come from nowhere,
Benny cried out, “cammy is that you”, a loud bark came into the air, but there was no dog in
sight. He followed the sound of the bark, and played with an invisible friend.
The next morning, Benny’s father woke him up, and asked him why was he sleeping outside,Benny smiled and said, “cammy wanted to play catch”.
