Subject: 2006 Draft Rumor Mill?

dateline Baton Rouge... The 2006 FIFL Draft kicks off shortly. This rookie crop appears deep. There is 1 QB that could start, but it would take a very special situation and an extremely enlightened GM to pull it off. There are 2 other future starters in this group. HB Wesley Cates appears to be the cream of the crop, followed closely by HB Verna Owens. WR Larry Ray Willis (Fresno State) is blue chip prospect. WR Damian Harrell (Florida State) may end up the higher rated prospect after TC! Perhaps 12 WRs in this draft may see future roles in the FIFL. OL is deep at all positions. There are some defensive gems available for those willing to wait... or is it those willing to pounce? Overall, those chosing to sit this one out better hope they succeed soon... because it is evident the down trownden will not reamin there for long... IF they come up with a total package, as the winners have in the past. THAT INCLUDES personnell, plays and profiles. NONE can be ignorned.
Here is one scribes opinion for the first round:

1) Billings Thunderbolts: select QB Rickey Foggie. FIFL league office pick: not open to negotiation... too bad. Not a bad pick, but un-enlightened... as in QB Aaron Garcia, given the right TC, will best Foggie this and in future seasons. This will be an entertaining duo to watch as future seasons unfold.

2) Fort Wayne Safari: WR Larry Ray Willis. No Brainer. Already have an established HB with Lincoln Coleman, DESPERATELY need infusion of talent at WR, INSTANT starter at WR3?. A+ pick.

3) Dayton Skyhawks (FM: Lincoln): WR Damien Harrell... just a hunch.

4) St Louis Renagades: HB Wesley Cates: St Louis no brainer... DESPERATE for a rushing attack no more!

5) Mobile Skyhawks: CB Kenny McEntyre.

6) Steel Valley Smash: S Damon Mason.

7) Fargo Freeze: T Lawrence Burth.

8) Mississippi Fire Dogs: CB Omar Smith.

9) Honolulu Hurricanes: LB Cos Abercrombie.

10) Portland Prowlers (FM Spring Valley:) C Victor Hall.

11) Mobile (from Dayton:) DE Leif Murphy.

12) Austin Knights (barring trades?): HB Verna Owens.

13) Madison Mad Dogs: S Rasheed Flyod.

14) Black Hills Machine: C Chris Janek.

15) Wichita Warlords: C Wayne Dixson.

16) Portland Prowlers: C Qaron Henne.

17) Mississippi: (FM LOU) LB Dedric Maffet.

18 Colorado Wildcats: FB Larry Blue.

Management is not responsible for the opinion of it's scribes...
