Subject: Freeze Season Eval

This has been a remarkable season for Fargo fans, with alot of good things going for them. Before the season ends, I thought I might start the evaluation of the Freeze's season.

Offense:
Passing:
The Good: Kurt Warner has had a great season, setting personal bests in TD passes, passer rating, and completion percentage as well as throwing for nearly 3500 yards (if he stays on pace), above his career season average.
The Bad: Everyone else that attempts to pass the football in a Fargo uniform. Pike hasn't performed well in the few times he has stepped in for Warner. It may be that lack of practice time has affected his play, but Fargo needs better from its backup QB. Freeze coaching needs to reevaluate the HB option pass as well.
The Ugly: Sacks. More sacks than Kurt Warner ever saw in his previous career.

Rushing:
The Good: HB Clinton Childs has run the ball quite well this season, especially when healthy. In full games where he wasn't injured, Childs is averaging over 80 yards a game, well on pace to break 1000 yards for the season. Childs didn't lose any fumbles this season either. FB Simecka performed quite well this season too,
The Bad: Childs was unable to complete a couple of important (now critical) games due to injury.
The Ugly: The rest of the field. The backups didn't get much play, but when they did, the made the least of their opportunities. Their youth shone through.

Receiving:
The Good: QB Warner's good season translates into solid stats for Fargo receivers including the longest pass for a Freeze player. With the propensity to spread the ball around lots of receivers get into the act.
The Bad: Spreading the ball around to a large number of players means fewer records and lower positions on the leader board. But if it translates into Wins...
The Ugly: Too many dropped or balls or errant passes due to bad routes, particularly on third down.

Defense:
Passing:
The Good: A couple of Interceptions early in the season and well timed sacks generating a Saftey helped the Freeze jump to an early 4-1 lead.
The Bad: Weak run Defense may give the appearance that the Pass Defense is better than it may be.
The Ugly: Giving up too many big play passes and has trouble shutting down teams on third down.

Run:
The Good: The weakness on the defense, they were able to create a pair of Safties by stuffing the run while deep in enemy territory
The Bad: giving up yards on the ground makes the Pass defense look better than it is.
The Ugly: one of the worst Rushing Defenses in the FIFL.

Special Teams:
Kicking:
The Good: Young Kicker Marco Morales was perfect on his PATs this season and 77% on FGs trys. His numbers put in near the top of This is a significant improvement over previous kickers and we can't wait until this player comes into his prime.
The Bad: Missed a couple of Field Goals that we felt were in Marco's range and may have turned the tide of a game or two.
The Ugly: The kicker that Marco Morales replaced.

Punting:
The Good: Punter James Thomas has done well in getting the Freeze good field position, Never been blocked.
The Bad: Tied for the league's worst in Net Avg.
The Ugly: Has trouble hitting the Coffin Corner, giving opponents too many Touchbacks and reducing his Net Avg.

Returns:
The Good: The punt returners have done a good job returning punts with a high avg per return, they even broke one for 6 at a crucial time in a critical game.
The Bad: Kickoff return team needs to gain more yards on returns, need to break a big one for a TD as well
The Ugly: Punt team giving up too many yards on returns has put the defense in untenable positions.
