Week 14 is usually a time for teams to begin their playoff preparations, with, perhaps, only the final wildcard slot being fought over. Not so in 2004, where it looks like only 2 playoff slots are clinched and several others are still in a state of flux. Fargo is heavily embroiled in one such playoff race and, as the saying goes, they hold their destiny in their hands. A win at home this Thursday will propel them from a second place tie, to the Division Championship and the Freeze's first ever playoff appearance.

But that's if they win their last game. If not, Fargo will find themselves at the mercy of several other teams if their playoff hopes are to be fulfilled. Utah and Louisiana are the teams that the Freeze must watch, since they are playing Colorado and Black Hills respectively, and if the Rattlers and Beast can win those home games, then Fargo stumbles into the playoffs.

Of course, no matter how this season shakes out, this Freeze team has done quite well for itself and shown that the players, staff, scheme, and management are on the right track. Achieving a franchise best season record is only the first step in the upturn of the Freeze fortunes and while the fans would welcome the teams first playoff berth, the future looks even brighter for the second youngest team in the FIFL.

Should Fargo indeed make the playoffs, the Freeze will have exceeded everyone's expectations, particularly in the powerhouse Great Plain Division, including that of their intrepid GM John Murphy. "We are pretty excited with where we are now, our offensive skill players are putting up excellent numbers, our defensive backfield is young and strong. Our defense needs improvement, but our youth means that we can fix that in the seasons to come". Young Kicker Marco Morales stopped to talk about the season closer, "I hope I get a chance to kick the game winner"
