Subject: WEEK 11 on deck...

Rock idol Jim Morrison said it best? “… take it easy, baby, take it as it comes…” That’s about ALL any of us can do each week. “… break on through to the other side… “ is for the football gods to decide. As expected, tough to handicap vs the spread this season… the house went a historical worst ever: 3 wins 5 losses and one no contest last week. Straight up, the house was 5 – 3 – 1. The change in the FG settings and the overall improvement in FIFL defensive personnel continue to wreak havoc trying to set spread #s. We will “endeavor to persevere” as this season continues. Trends from the past are less than trustworthy this season… a more thorough analysis is required, and there is precious little time this season for that sort of preparation. Regardless, it’s still fun so we will continue our efforts.

GAME OF THE WEEK!

Give it up for Black Hills… They will take down Utah this week. NOBODY in this conference reels off 8 in a row… unless that team is Utah? Remember, this team marches to the beat of a different drummer… this may be the team of destiny this season due to Ian’s bizarre motivational technique. Black Hills has been vulnerable at the oddest times this season. UTA S4 Herman Bell, O-5 Broken leg (wk 10)… will DB Eugene Napoleon get some PT this week? Line set at Black Hills – 1 1/2.

Utah (8-2) at Black Hills (7-3)

UTA offense 9th 84.1 rush - [13th] / 254.9 pass - [5th]
defense 14th 97.2 rush - [9th] / 250.7 pass - [14th]
scoring 23.0 for - [1st] / 18.1 against - [6th]
---------------------------------------------------------
BLK offense 12th 129.4 rush - [2nd] / 197.7 pass - [17th]
defense 9th 85.3 rush - [5th] / 242.8 pass - [9th]
scoring 20.9 for - [6th] / 16.5 against - [4th]

OR, THIS IS A CLOSE SECOND?

Green Bay motivated, Mobile has game. HUGE W last week has Bomber squad fired up. TOO close to call… pick ‘em.

Mobile (5-5) at Green Bay (5-4-1) at

MOB offense 5th 79.5 rush - [15th] / 265.4 pass - [2nd]
defense 11th 93.5 rush - [8th] / 241.3 pass - [8th]

---------------------------------------------------------
GBY offense 15th 69.6 rush - [17th] / 239.5 pass - [9th]
defense 15th 105.3 rush - [11th] / 254.8 pass - [17th]
scoring 19.4 for - [12th] / 21.0 against - [11th]

Worth a couch potato session with a cooler of your favorite beverage within reach and a crock pot dinner for the intermission? Can Dayton continue to dominate? Mississippi defense is ranked last in the league this season. Can their offense overcome? Tough call… Fire Dogs due a home W, Dayton due a road loss, but Dayton has met and won all tough challenges this season. We’ll go out in a thin limb. Line set at Mississippi – 2 ˝.

Dayton (9-1) at Mississippi (5-5)

DAY offense 6th 120.4 rush - [3rd] / 224.5 pass - [13th]

defense 18th 111.5 rush - [14th] / 254.3 pass - [16th]
scoring 20.9 for - [8th] / 20.3 against - [9th]

Louisiana has to win to keep pace for the conference title? Wichita, improved this season, no patsy especially at home! The Beast tacked to pounding the ball on the ground this season. Can Wichita stem this trend? They are ranked 3rd in the league vs the rush? If they do, we may see the resurgence of the Louisiana passing game… the players are still in place for that to happen. Line set at Louisiana – ˝.

Louisiana (7-2-1) at Wichita (6-4)

LOU offense 4th 139.5 rush - [1st] / 206.3 pass - [15th]

FOR THE HARD CORE FAN?

Despite the W/L disparage, teams rank almost even overall. FGO G2 Zach Rix Q-2 sprained ankle (wk 10.) Look for Springfield to establish the rush attack, control the clock and score just enough to eke out the W this week. Springfield slighted more motivated? Line set at Springfield – 2 ˝.

Springfield (6-4) at Fargo (3-7)

SPR offense 7th 107.6 rush - [5th] / 234.0 pass - [12th]
defense 8th 75.8 rush - [2nd] / 251.0 pass - [15th]

defense 7th 110.3 rush - [13th] / 216.4 pass - [4th]
scoring 20.2 for - [10th] / 22.3 against - [15th]

Texas HAS to win this one to stay alive for play off berth. Steel Valley continues to suffer the consequences of their rebuilding program. They are on track, but Texas he needs this one to have ANY chance for a play off berth. Line set at Texas – 2 ˝.

Texas (5-5) at Steel Valley (2-8)

TEX offense 14th 78.3 rush - [16th] / 240.2 pass - [8th]

defense 16th 114.9 rush - [15th] / 250.5 pass - [13th]
scoring 17.6 for - [15th] / 24.4 against - [18th]

GO OUT AND RAKE THE LEAVES?

COL WR2 83 Stevie Thomas Q-2 Strained back (wk 10) 2 90 86 84 74 88 81 78 74? Bad time for casualty to WR2, bad time. Line set at Colorado – 4.

scoring 15.8 for - [18th] / 23.4 against - [17th]

Hurricanes just seem to have Black Hills number… forgot about that last week. We’re leery due to the #1 ranked Honolulu defense… #2 vs the pass game. Portland due for a road win? It’s more about motivation (Portland in the thick of the play off hunt) than pride (Honolulu has some how displeased the football gods this season?) Line set at Portland – 1 ˝.

Portland (6-4) at Honolulu (3-7)

POR offense 13th 82.0 rush - [14th] / 242.4 pass - [7th]
