Teams like Black Hills and Dayton were built off drafts like this, actually....

None of the winning teams right now were built off superstar #1 picks. For example, the Black Hills defense was built on an awful lot of 18th-in-the-round picks over the past few years... a bit worse off than the ones y'all got to build your teams. The offense is built around (don't call 'em ageing, dammit!) the league's inception draft.

The "stacked" teams look that way because their owners spend (far too much) time building up the team, trying to make a few trades here and there, etc... You'd be surprised what a bunch of "weak" draft players can end up doing if you plan ahead a little and camp 'em up right.

PS Many of the "stacked" teams put up available player lists... and are willing to trade for draft picks.
