Subject: Reaction to the Fire Sale Announcement
In reply to: Josh Stein (Steel Valley) 's message, "Fire sale!" on 22:08:11 03/16/03 Sun

Ownership in Steel Valley has been closely examining every move made recently in the team's front office, and the war cries have sounded. Smash owner Josh Stein has announced the firings of the front office.

"The guys making the personnel decisions weren't getting the job done. Changes need to be made, and I am going to make them. Three, and now four straight seasons of less wins, that's not going to cut it. We need to start over."

And start over they did. Not one soul remains, except for head coach Dan Jackson. Jackson has also been appointed as the team's general manager. When asked about the new appointment, Jackson was understandably pleased.

"Mr. Stein and I see things eye to eye. We're both going to be working hard to get this team improved vastly from where they have been in the past. In order to do that properly, we have to get rid of the players that will not help this team in the future. That's why we've released a trade list so large. Anyone who has played more than just a couple of years is going to be too old and banged up to help us when we get better."

When told of the move by ownership, FB Sid Hall was less than pleased. "Some of us have been here for all four years of this team. We put our hearts and souls into making this team a winner, and now we're all going to get shipped off, like cattle to a slaughterhouse. Is nothing sacred in this league? I hope someone can come in and put a stop to this insanity."

Hall, a sixth year veteran, is a member of the cut list. Also members are QB Josh Luedtke, WR Youssef Sareni and WR Chuck Wyatt. Josh Stein was not available for comment.

Trade list:
QB: Josh Luedtke, Eric Hannah
FB: Sid Hall, Clarence Benford, Ron Punako
WR: Youssef Sareni, Kalen Deboer, Richard Scroggins, Chuck Wyatt, Frenchie Buckner
TE: Eli Workman, Todd Paige
C: Carl Dedrick
G: Andy Lambert
T: Matt Walls, Roger Pederson
DE: William Morris, Randy Levels, Bill Borchers
DT: John Krawczyk
LB: Leonard Holmes, BJ Baird, Tony Alfred
CB: Sammy Walker, Jay Buchanan, Orville Townsend
S: Leonard Taylor, Don Harris, Courtney Dinkins
