Subject: Rebuilding process moving along

It's been a sad week in the Smash front office, after firing the front office and making the fire sale announcement. But Steel Valley Smash personnel have been very pleased with a couple of developments.

"We don't want these guys, who have done so much for us, to get screwed over on a losing team. That's why we're making these moves. These are some premier players and they deserve to be on a winning team," owner Josh Stein was quoted as saying.

To date, the Smash have made a pair of moves. First, they traded WR Youssef Sareni to the Mobile Seagulls for the rights to Mobile's 5th round pick next year and QB Rashard Casey. Head Coach Dan Jackson likes what Casey can bring to the table. "He's got a strong strong arm, he's young still and he is a fairly smart player. Plus, he's got legs like Major (former Smash QB Harris). He will be the starter by season's end here, I think."

The other move was one for the distant future, as the Smash sent original Steel Valley FB Sid Hall to Green Bay for a 5th and 8th round draft pick. "It's a stretch, but we can get some decent players with these picks. They are later, but Sid Hall was a later-round pick in the original expansion draft, and look what he did for us. I hate losing the guy, but it is for the better of this football team."

The Smash are reportedly very heavily shopping QB Josh Luedtke around to potential suitors in hopes that one of the league's premier passers can gather a good set of draft picks for next year's draft.
