Subject: GAME OF THE WEEK!

Baton Rouge Advocate article... Week 7 in the FIFL features several intriguing matchups for the midway point in its' 3rd season. Here is an assessment for TV viewers this week:

***** (MUST WATCH)

Portland (2-4) at Honolulu (3-3)

This game may well deceide which team continues to advance in the race for the division crown or playoff slot. Honolulu suffered a surprising setback last week to the Bombers (BRAVO! ...thanks, Clint) Portland, after a series of near-miss losses, was soundly spanked by a Springfeid team intent on improving after their snakebit last season. Honolulu is a run first team. The loss of OT Justin Glasgow will diminish their capacity in this area this week. Backups are adequate, but expect defensive pressure to produce sacks and snipe continually at the running game. Portland continues to experience technical difficulties with its' offense. Despite an abundance of talent, it just refuses to jell. Honolulu has impressive DL SP AC and AG, will give Portland OL more than it can handle? Conficts abound everywhere RE this game... but the line is set at Portland -2... just a hunch.

Louisiana (5-1) at Mississippi (4-2)

This game will be a barnburner. Louisiana has never won in Mississippi. However, the Beast have assembled a formidable array of talent on both sides of the ball for this seasons' attempt. This time of the FIFL season dictates that the dominant Fire Dogs will be victorious... it just seems to shake out that way regardless... but, don't count yer chickens yet... the addition of OL Tony Altman at C1 launched HB1 Michael Lawrence for 151 yards last week. WR Anthony Payton stepped up to snare 10 Wallwork aerials for 133 yds. The Beast defense froze the Freeze to a FG. S Brian Birmingham looms large this week, as he fills in for stalwart S1 Kevin Bouis (out this week with a sore neck.) Rookie S Troy Hill moves in to fill Birminghams' S3 slot. IF the Beast again holds offensive studs HB1 Damon Benning and WR1 Jojo Justice in check like it has in recent encounters, the fortunes appear to be in their favor. The line is set ay Louisiana -1.

*** (BEST OF THE REST)

Black Hills (4-2) at Colorado (3-3)

Conference matchup featuring #1 rated Black Hills, licking their wounds after a narrow defeat at home at the hands of current FIFL chmapion Dayton. Colorado destroyed Fort Wayne 21 - 3 last week. Black Hills will rebound, line set at Black Hills -5.

Wichita (4-2) at Utah (3-3)

Wichita won in OT last week, Utah lost to Madison... y'all get the feeling the balance of power has shifted to the American Conference? Line set at Utah -3.

Springfield (4-2) at Fargo (2-4)

Sprinfeild dominated Porland, Farge froze vs Lousisana. Line set at Springfeild -1.

* (M*A*S*H* still alive on FX)

Lincoln (1-5) at Texas (2-4)

Texas too much at home. Line set at Texas -4.

Madison (4-2) at Steel Valley (1-5)

Ho hum. Line set at Madison -9.

Green Bay (1-5) at Dayton (4-2)

ZZZZZzzzz... Line set at Dayton -14.
