Subject: Here we go sports nuts!

The ice has been replaced in the multi-function Riverside Centroplex. All 12,000 seats are sold out. Rock concert pitch anticipation permeates the normally languid town of Baton Rouge. The Louisiana Bayou Beast play this week for FIFL title.

We finally managed to corral Owner/GM Jimmy Hanlon this week. “We said at the beginning of this season that is was time for this team to take its place in the upper echelon of this league. We took the steps necessary to make that happen. We have assembled a hungry group of veterans who never dreamed of sniffing a ring. We have talented youngsters who will benefit greatly from this experience. Their TEAMWORK and perseverance have brought us to this point. All the accolades awarded to us are a nice bonus, but irrelevant at this point. We have luck on our side… but let’s expand LUCK to Labor Under Correct Knowledge. We feel we have the perfect opponent this week to prove that we have arrived. The Black Hills Machine epitomizes the standard of the FIFL. We look forward to the challenge. See y’all on the field.”

BLK offense 8th 108.1 rush - [3rd] / 216.1 pass - [11th]
defense 6th 64.2 rush - [1st] / 239.8 pass - [15th]
scoring 25.3 for - [1st] / 20.4 against - [9th]

LOU offense 6th 91.7 rush - [9th] / 244.2 pass - [4th]
defense 2nd 70.1 rush - [3rd] / 213.7 pass - [3rd]
scoring 22.1 for - [4th] / 16.7 against - [2nd]

The Black Hills Machine consistently put points on the scoreboard all season long. Their #1 ranking in scoring is no fluke. The names are familiar QB Mike Armour, HB Raphael Cooper, WR Sedrick Robinson… so is their game: ram the rush game down their throat, play excellent defense to back it up. TE Eric Alford can make a difference every touch he gets. DEs Fred Robinson, Jeff Kumpala and DT James Pennington head up the leagues best run D unit. Louisiana counters with a chameleon team oriented game… whatever it takes. MVP QB Joshua “wheelworks” Wallwork is quick to point out that WRs Anthony Payton, Willie Austin, Lee McCormick and Rodney Boykin, TEs Ron Darden and Michael Montoya, and the Beast RBs led by Michael Lawrence are the reason for his team’s success. “They and he O line deserve the trophy more than I do” said Wallwork. The revamped defense has proved up to any task. Louisiana leans toward “big play” ability over raw talent to get it done on D. All in all, an intriguing match up: establishment vs upstart. We give a slight edge to Black Hills. They have been here thrice B4. They have plowed through the field on the road this playoff season. Line set at Black Hills – 2.
