Date Posted: 04:27:33 02/21/05 Mon In reply to: Alaisdir Ua Séaghdha 's message, "Re: Latin Mass in Mohill?" on 08:13:57 02/18/05 Fri As the Latin Mass Society of Ireland run >Masses in about ten dioceses annually, I think they >are perhaps the best to talk about this. I am incorrect here. The LMSI, I am informed, run annual pilgrimages in the following dioceses: Dublin (a walk from Dublin to Glendalough with Mass - Late June) Tuam (Knock - early September; Croagh Patrick - Sunday before Reek Sunday in July) Killaloe (the Shrine of the Little Ark, Kilbaha, Co. Clare - next year early July) With fixed Annual Masses in the following: Raphoe (Letterkenny Cathedral on August 15) Ferns (Edermine House - refuge of Blessed Columba Marmion near Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford - usually late September) Cork and Ross (West Cork around the August bank holiday weekend) With somewhat more frequent Masses in the following dioceses: Meath (in Batterstown near Dunboyne where the curate has permission from his bishop to work with the LMSI) Ardagh and Clonmacnoise (Mohill, Co. Leitrim - these Masses are regarded as private and are not publicised) Limerick (usually in a city church and announced locally. Two were held in the cathedral) Galway, Kilmacduagh and Kilfenora (in St. Oliver Plunkett's, Renmore, Co. Galway near the city and as announced) Cork and Ross (Cork City, as announced) Derry (Derry City, as announced) For all these, the http://come.to/thelatinmass website should be consulted. The society also have an Annual Requiem Mass and a Mass for the AGM (next one is in Derry) which can be held in any of those dioceses. Two pilgrimages were run in Lough Derg in the Clogher Diocese, but this was discontinued due to difficulties - but it is hoped to resume this at some stage. Also, in January, there was a requiem Mass in Dundalk in the Armagh Archdiocese for a deceased member (Mrs Maeve Mac Guill, ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam cróga - please remember her in your prayers), so there is a possibility of further Masses there. This is not inclusive of the following regular indult Masses: Dublin, St. Audoen's, High St. - Every Sunday 11am. Holydays as announced Tuam: St. Patrick's Academy, Islandeady, Castlebar, Co Mayo. Daily. 11 am on Sundays Raphoe: Bruckless, Co. Donegal. 12.30 on Sundays. First Friday Mass, Golan, Co Donegal. There are also a few old Masses a year in Mellifont Abbey, Collon, Co. Louth which are unpublicised. Other Masses: An organisation called Ecclesia Dei Ireland has a few annual Masses: Cashel: Holycross Abbey Armagh: St. Peter's, Drogheda, Co. Louth (national shrine of St. Oliver Plunkett) Kildare & Leighlinn: Kildare Town (pilgrimage in honour of St. Bridget) Dublin: Mass for their annual general meeting. I heard rumours that Ecclesia Dei Ireland have a second Mass in Dublin to commemorate the Irish martyrs. All these Masses have absolute ecclesiastical approval. Finally, there are two regular private Masses said by priests in good standing, but outside the indult: Dublin (Archdiocese, not county): Roundwood, Co. Wicklow - most Saturdays in a private house. Ferns: Wexford Town. In an oratory beside a private house by a retired missionary every day. These are Masses not cleared by the local bishop but are said privately by priests in good standing which some of the faithful may attend, space permitting. This is not inclusive of Masses said by the Society of St. Pius X, sedevacantists or other groups operating outside established ecclesiastical authority in Ireland. If I am missing anything which has approval, I would like to hear about it. In Jesu per Mariam, Alaisdir Ua Séaghdha. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
