Date Posted: 08:13:57 02/18/05 Fri In reply to: Thomas Murphy 's message, "Re: Latin Mass in Mohill?" on 13:28:54 11/27/04 Sat I am not sure Thomas is 100% right here. First, Keep the Faith Inc. is a US non profit organisation promoting a variety of aspects of traditional Catholic interest. You can view their website at: http://www.keepthefaith.org/ This organisation owns St. Anne's, a former Convent of Mercy in Mohill, Co. Leitrim. It is Keep the Faith's intention that this venue be used for a variety of purposes to do with their own mission - for example: catechetics, Catholic Action, pro life activities and promoting the old Latin Mass. The assumption is that the groups using the venue should be in good standing with the Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise, in whose diocese Mohill is. For those interested, you can telephone Mrs. Warde (the manageress) at 071-9651936 or from the north at 00-353-71-9651936. On the specific question of the old Latin Mass, the Latin Mass Society of Ireland (website: http://come.to/thelatinmass which I am surprised isn't listed among the links on this website: it is partner to both the Latin Mass Society of England and Wales and Una Voce America who are) have a relationship with Keep the Faith Inc and to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter and they have some responsiblity for this side of the centre's activities. They have organised the visits of Father Buckley of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter to Ireland in 2003 and 2004. These visits included retreats in Mohill and public Masses in the old rite with the local bishops' permission in Dublin, Cork, Derry, Limerick and Galway. As the Latin Mass Society of Ireland run Masses in about ten dioceses annually, I think they are perhaps the best to talk about this. I hope this somehow clarifies the situation.
