I also happen to be a non-Columbian; I go to Yale, ninety minutes up the road, although I have been in New York for the summer in the employ of the Commissioner of Baseball. Avrum Tilman of the Braves, whom you Columbians might know, roped me into this thing, and, despite the politics of it, I'm glad he did.
This thread is so much more peaceful than most.
The Phillies are my hometown team (I'm from right outside of Philly) and I believe that Jose Mesa is the Messiah (I pronounce his first name by saying 'J' as in 'jumpin Jehosaphat' and rhyming it with 'close,' which he does rather well). Shortly after taking over the Phillies, I shipped Scott Rolen's malcontented ass out of town, and I'm glad he's gone, though really, he's a great player.
I loathe the Mets and Yankees. The latter are quite good; the former are little better than the Phillies in 2002, and I wish the New York and national media would stop acting as if this team is one deadline deal from contention. They're just a really poorly assembled, really expensive team.
That's me in a nutshell.
See you on the trade front (I am always eager to be seen there),
Chaim
