I think the story first began in the summer of 2000, when someone I respect intellectually told me about the virtues of Columbia (I might have ended up at PENN!)...Yada yada yada, I'm in the Columbia Class of 2005 and I'm a broadcaster at WKCR Sports, along with Nate, Phil, and about 4 or 5 other guys in the league. I took the Cardinals mainly for 2 reasons:
1) I once went on record as saying that the Yankees made a mistake letting Tino Martinez go, and that because of it, the Cardinals were going to go to the World Series this year with Tino batting in 130 runs. I hereby retract the second half of that prediction, by the way.
2) My friend Evan Perlman (who owns the Twins) and I have an unusual infatuation with Jim Edmonds. We get much too excited when we see him hit a home run. In fact, not being able to watch Jim Edmonds hit home runs is the most disappointing part of this game for me. However, the pain is slightly alleviated by owning the team that has him under contract.
