First Task Details Released
Day 16, 22:05

THE second live task is now underway but the prize on offer is not one the housemates fully anticipated - they are about to be divided into two separate groups.

According to Big Brother, the contestants will be split into two equal teams - rich and poor - depending on which contestants pass the task, and which fail.

And the only clue to the nature of the mission has been a basketball hoop erected in the garden and the associated basketball.

The rich side will get to sleep in the luxurious bedroom and enjoy a £400 shopping budget. In addition they will also have access to all their personal belongings, packed up earlier in the evening.

In stark contrast, those who are unlucky enough to end up in the poor group will receive no housekeeping money and have to survive on basic rations provided by Big Brother.

In addition, apart from a few essentials the poor side's belongings will be out of bounds aside.

The news has rocked the Big Brother House and although a few had guessed some sort of division may be put in place tonight, most others are still reeling from the news.

Follow the housemates' progress live on Channel 4 between 10.00pm and 10.30pm, and catch up with the results and reactions here as and when they happen.

How The Other Half Live
Day 16, 22:30

THE live task has divided the housemates with PJ, Jade, Alex, Spencer and Adele banished to the "poor side" of the House.

Unknown to the group, the House is currently being split into two sections by a partition of glass bars, that will keep the poor housemates from their rich counterparts.

Live on Channel 4, the group were asked to throw a basketball through a hoop in the garden - the first five successful scorers will be living in luxury for the next seven days.

Even before the task, the group were asked to pack up necessities for a week's living in a small bag provided by Big Brother.

"Put as many clothes on as you can!" instructed Alex, as the boys got frantically packing.

And as the housemates shivered in the garden, Big Brother dropped the bombshell that would decide their fate.

The rich side would receive £400 housekeeping money, the poor side nothing. In addition, the lucky five who succeeded would have access to all their personal belongings, in contrast to the not so lucky five.

They were asked to decide in what order they would throw the ball within two minutes, causing must consternation with Kate improbably suggesting: "The girls should go first!"

Jade seemed extremely worried about the whole ordeal claiming, "I'm s***e!" several times over.

The housemates decided the task should be attempted in a girl/boy order. The boys drew straws to decide who of them went first.

However, after Adele missed her opening basket, confusion reigned as Scot Sandy - originally designated further down the order - grabbed the basketball and scored.

There was further consternation from the losing side that Jonny had infringed the rules by standing on the white line - rather than behind it - when he took his throw.

Both Jade and Alex were off target, before the next four netted in succession.

Unfortunately, Spencer and PJ didn't even get a throw before Big Brother called a halt to the proceedings.

And now as the two separate groups sit in the two bedrooms contemplating their successes and failures, they are blissfully unaware of the physical divide currently being erected in the House.

Deprived of their House comforts, the five poor housemates are looking forward to a lean few days.
