Bil

Sorry to have takenso long to reply.

Obviously the site isn't clear enough!

The survey is designed simply to establish a baseline for the overall level of paranormal experiences throughout the study area. As you say such experiences are pretty rare (we reckoned perhaps on a par with the incidence of marine mammals in the open ocean) - hence our adoption of a classic marine survey methodology - the km square grid.

Overall we had a very good response rate to teh survey (around 25%). These responses included both positive accounts of experiences and nil returns - again very important for the methododlogy. Responses indicated an overall level of paranormal experiences at nearly 8 per cent of the sites. Extrapolating from this one can assume that there is a baseline of 8 percent for paranormal experiences amongst eigt per cent of the population of this area.

as you rightly point out - we now need to look at patterns and go in in more detail in particular areas where there are both high and low levels of EMR. By this method we will be able to measure incidences of such experiences against the known baseline and so start to draw some conclusions.

This will all take a little time I'm afrais because - as yo may have picked up in the long gaps in our sometimes sending responses, we are all involved in other (often more financially rewarding!) projects.

Such is the lot of the poorly funded research scientist working in fringe areas that don't atrract major funders!
