Subject: Public school better
I am 17 years old and have gone to private and public schools. I think public is a lot better. I went to a private school frome Pre-k-3rd grade. After the kids started picking on me because I lived in a small apartement and wore my sisters old hand me down uniform my mom looked for another private school, but the only one close enough, we could not afford. I begged my mom all summer to let me try public school. She thought it would just be worse, but in public school I made friends who also did not have a lot of money and didn't care how I dressed or where I lived. In 8th grade we had to move to the city becasue my mom got a better job there. She made me go to private school because of the crime in the public schools. Finally after bugging her for 2 years she let me go to public school for 10th grade. I'm now in 11th grade and doing great there. There will always be bullys in any school and your kid can't escape that because they are dressed the same as everyone else. If it's not your clothes the kids will pick on something else, where you live, your weight, your grades, anything they can find wrong with you. Private school is so expensive too, the classes may be smaller, but my mom did not feel like i was getting a better educdation there. The teachers at private school were no nicer than the teachers at public school, and normally if a teacher dosen't like a kid, the kid has made the teacher hate them. I get all the one on one attention I need. Beleive me, If you call your childs teacher and tell her he needs help, she will give him extra attention, help after school, or arrange for him to get help from an aide. I hated the uniforms, they were embarrasing and ugly. I felt like an idiot wearing a mauroon jumper and saddle shoes when I was 13 years old. Kids will pick on you if your uniform is used, or old. and it limits the childs creativity. also uniforms do not help keep intruders out of the school or keep students in. It's very easy to get a schools uniform even if you arent a student, and a student can easily go to the bathroom and change out of their uniform. plus people can lie and say they are a relative of the student. Sorry my message is so long, but I feel very strongly that public school is better.

I feel the same way when I think that public schools are better than private schools. Public school kids get a better education. I feel that wearing a uniform looms uncomfertable and stupid. I don't like to come home everyday and worry if my laundry is done because private school kids have to wear the same uniforms everyday.

I too go to a public school and think it is alot better. My step sisters go to a privet and get picked on because they are smarter then others. of course this happens at every school. but tyhey come home with black eyes and even last year all there books were ripped apart. of course now their parents have moved them to a differnt PRIVET school, and is alot better. but they dont understand what has been happening. It once happened to me to. So i advise parents to give their children the chance to go to a cost free school were the education is just as good as a privet schools. I would know since i went to a public and am now a Corprote lawyer.

You may have like public school better for social reasons, but it does not appear that provided you with a very good education. You cannot spell the word "PRIVATE" correctly, and as a Corporate Laweyer, you cannot spell word "CORPORATE"! I also cannot believe all the grammatical errors. I too, attended a public school from K-12. It provided me with a fair education, and with hard work I did succeed in becoming a Doctor. Yet, given a choice of private vs. public for my children I would select private. I strongly feel that with small class sizes and more individual attention, a child can be better challenged and better educated.

I'm also 17 years old. I have never been to a private school, but I do think that public schools are better, or at least as good as private schools. I have had lots of friends who went to private schools and they all had one thing in comman...they hated it. I do think that if you go to a priavte school the kids will pick on you so much more. They expect you to be ritch, where nice clothes, be super smart, I guess just perfect. The kids at private schools act like there better than everyone else when there not. They are the same as anyone else..even public school kids. I think there should just be public schools.

Re: Public school better -- Ashley, 06:58:11 04/07/06 Fri
I am a product of the public school system and I am writing an argumentative paper in my college english course on whether public schools are better than private schools. I find this posting to be rather funny because it shows students of both the public and private sectors, yet the posting is filled with grammatical errors. So which education system is better I ask? Obviously, spelling wasn't high on either of the agendas. And most public schools, at least at the junior high level, have made the transition to uniforms so this argument is irrelevant.

Im doing the same type of paper! i personaly went to a public school and hated it!! i struggle in college and i have a few friends from high school that went to a private school and they got into a lot better college then i could. i think if i went to a private school i would of learn more and been ready for college, with a better learn program to back me up. private schools know what they are doing unlike public schools.

I went to elementary school in Canada in 1973.Though you might think Nova Scotia is civilized, back then it was abusive.I think people should consider the corporal punishment policies in their area.I received bare bottom spankings in front of the full classroom of boys and girls. At the age of 8 years old it has seriously damaged my life.People perhaps should be aware of this when picking a school for their child. The female teacher then seemed to enjoy bullying me and humiliated me across her lap as the other children giggled.I was spanked hard with an open hand as the class was threatened to be quiet.Am I alone.

Re: Private school is better -- Louise, 14:18:40 11/08/09 Sun
I have gone to both public and private schools. My opinion is that private schools are better. The uniforms are nice, and at my school you don't get teased if your uniform is used; we actually hold used uniform sales. In private schools the teachers challenge you more academically. Ther is no NCLB, this means lessons are more flexible, and a goup of kids can be together and be challenged more than another group because teachers don't have to have strict regulations on the lessons, and aren't teaching to the test.
If you feel differently, I respect your opinion, but i strongly feel that private schools are better

I've never been to a public school, and i don't really want to try it. I agree on some things you said like the bullying thingy in private.I've gone to a private school since i was 4 and nobody bullied me there.I left in 3rd grade went to one closer, and everyone picked on me because i wasn't like them,i was smaller, and because i wasn't a popular.I left last year and i was homeschooled and now i'm going to a huge private school with uniforms and ect. It's the biggest school in our state, and nobody picks on anyone. Everyone is nice and you actually have friends..Private schools have better education where i live but it's not exsepsive.Like at my old school it was around 7 hundred a month and the one i'm at now is 8 hundred a month,so it's not exspensive,it may be to some people but not to us.Our public schools suck and i wouldn't want to go to them because if you see them they ask what school did you go to? i would say the name and they'd go oh you're a preppy rich kid and walk away.See? Pubbies. (public kids) only like pubbies. if you used to go to a private school their all like prep!! I know cuz my bff goes to one and all her friends pick on me.haha,
