I'm 17 and go to private school, and we have kids from all ages, classes, and races, and I have never seen an issue with discrimination in my schoo. I don't know if this is an exeption or not, but even so, my "exception" falls into the category of all. Not ALL private schools are full of rich snobs who look down on the world. I purchased the cloths I were to school at the local Dollar Tree. That point made, I know and am friends with students of public schools. And they are an intelligent bunch, but at the same time my school cares about the well being of its students more than the local public school system does. And my friends have expressed that to me. I believe that this has helped me in my educational experience greatly.
