A year ago I finally caved in and bought a cd burner. I visited several stores, consulted with some computer-wise friends, and generally tried to find the best burner avalible that I could afford.
According to all sources consulted, the best product I could get would be H-P.
Okay, fine. I go buy it and install it.
Installing the hardware = easy.
Installing the software = nearly bloody impossible.
And then, after ten hours and many consultations with the computer-smart engineers on my floor I have managed to do the following:
1) install software.
2) Watch software and operating system destroy each other.
3) Scream.
4) Consult with many computer-smart engineers.
5) Listen to bad muzak for an hour before giving up on the "phone product suport" option.
6) re-install my operating system.
7) Attempt to use other burner programs with the hardware. Oh lovely, there is no software in existance that is able to recognize the hardware.
8) Go back and re-install the H-P software. It works. Technically speaking, anyways.
9) Discover that if I burn a cd directly from my hard drive, I'd better be ready for the computer to crash. Because it is going to. Gaurenteed. Without fail. Every time.

So yeah. I am never going to buy another H-P product as long as I live. And the instant I find an excuse (and the funds) I am getting a computer that comes put together. No assembaly required.
Trust me, building your own computer is a mistake.
