A pretty, young girl rode in on a grey thoroughbred mare. "Good girl Misty" she reassured the nervous horse in its new surroundings. Misty was only young and spooked easily at new things. Catherine walked the mare round on a long rein, along the fence line of the outdoor arena. The horse carried her head high and pricked her ears forward, Catherine kept her legs on and made the horse go straight and walked her past all the things she wasn't sure of. Soon the horse settled down and Catherine trotted then cantered around to warm her up. First she took the mare over some trotting poles, Misty knocked the first one but soon got the hang of it. Catherine then dismounted and left Misty who stood dozily in the middle of the arena, catehrien knew she shouldn't have done that but the gate was shut and Misty wouldn't gallop off. She set up a 3ft straight and got back on. She took Misty over that a few times then set some more fences up. Misty soon relaxed and jumped each fence perfectly. When Catherine had finished Misty was quite sweaty so she put on her vest-rug to cool her down then turned her out in the field. Chase whinnied at her from the geldings field so Catherine went to stroke him.
