Subject: I guess HK sub of Inu-Yasha is really awful as well...
In reply to: Dare 's message, "Prrrreeeesenting! The worst most aweful SUB!!" on 00:31:52 05/14/02 Tue

A fellow mod of mine, Unastrike, at PSOtakus just got this, his rants worth reposting here:

"Jezus... I swear I'm never buying any DVD from Hong Kong again.

We recently picked up two volumes of Inu-Yasha on DVD from an importer on eBay. Everything looked "legit" enough... right down to the packaging and printing on the DVDs themselves. The first three disks themselves were good. Subtitling was above average, some episodes were actually DVD quality... I was pleased.

As soon as we popped in the fourth disk... things went terribly wrong.

1) The menu screen had spelling errors on it. "Paly All"?!? I could see them making this mistake on one disk... but two?

2) Subtitling was horrendous... not timed well and the context was WAAAAY out in left field. It's like they took the literal translation (doing this I see you guy) and even mixed that up (guy this you are doing see I).

3) Let's call Inu-Yasha, Canine now... wait... let's kall Kirara that too (sometimes) Let's call Kagome.... GALWEY!!!! Kikyo? Nuh-uh... your new name is ORANGE!!! Orange for cripes sake!!! Ever hear of Master Miller the Rabbi? That's Miroku's alter ego in WILD AND WACKY LAND!!! Sango? Well, Sango is called Sango. Go fig.

4) Let's not even bother talking about the partial McDonalds ad that was included absolutely free of charge. Very nice. thanks for that.

I feel so ripped off right now. I can't even stand to watch the rest of them. Sera's a trooper tho... or a hardcore Inu-Yashiac... she's still out there trudging through them. I give her mucho credit for that."

Moments later...

"Sera just informed me that Inu-Yasha's older brother, Sesshoumaru, is named "Killer". Sure. Why the fuck not?

I'm going to change my name to popsicle, but have my friends call me egg-roll... but only on Thursdays."

Mind you this is his first time with a bad HK sub. Any one else seen this sub?
