starving artist lifestyle = a-okay with me.
rather than developing skills to a hirable point, and THEN trying to get published, I'll just publish online and learn by doing. then I can develop my skills, while at the same time, developing a theoretical fan base. then I can start charging for my work, live off of it?
lack of proper workspace + easily distracted = lots of scripts and designs and sketches, but little finished product. aka no finished product. have subdomain, no html there yet.
and then there's that whole lack of confidence bit. my skillz are lacking.
need to just do and not care if it's good, learn as I go and get better, it'll be good in the end, and the next project will be even better, and so on. but starting is hard when you haven't done anything like this before.

haven't been in the 'what does this degree get me?' bit because I realized quickly that the jobs a degree in anything would get me, I don't really want.
but now i'm in the bit where I understand why great writers take so long to finish things. part of it is making sure it's good, but most of it is getting to the point that you're willing to show it to people.

er, anyways, you have a degree, that'll help get you crappy jobs easily. just remember, you may have a degree, but you still have to start at the bottom. it's just that the bottom, for you, is a bit higher than for the average person.

I don't have a degree, but I don't owe the govt. thousands of dollars and that's pretty cool
