Subject: Cool site with a lot of Anime clips...

http://meganimation.platomic.com/Animes/

Mind you, it's in french, but it's fun to see how they dubbed some stuff. I found it while looking for more Rose of Versailles clips.

Most of the french dubs I've heard of are pretty faithful, and some do use the opening songs+animation. Some however are very very cheesy. The french Sailor Moon is quite odd in particular.

Here's the lyrics from Lum for example---
I am now on the Earth
And he wasn't all that ready
to discover that in his heart a love that will be always
My name is Lamu, Lamu, I come from the outer reaches of Space
My name is Lamu, Lamu, and I'm not of your race
[insert piano pinging]
My name is Lamu, Lamu, and on the Earth I met
The Love who I want to Keep!

Cheesy yes, but add in shots of Lum abusing her earthling boyfriend, and flying through the sky in her bikini, and you've got an opening as wierd as the show is anyways.
It looks to be an 80's dub too..

And in the other "odd" section, the Lady Oscar dub of Rose of Versailles. It's pretty famous for being a direct translation of the show, and for being french :) [like the characters ARE :)].... but the oeping is trippy. A waltz about Oscar dressing as a boy, and always keeping her honor mixed with the trippy opening of the japanese one... which had a somber sounding yet pretty tune. Wierd symbollic shots of thorns gorwing on an Oscar statue are even stranger with a waltz...

Note--- Most go by their original names, but lok around to find other stuff. Albator=Harlock for example. And Candy Candy clips! [saccharinnnne delighhhhht]....
